1. Carefully dig a trench around the base of the wobbly fence post, aiming for a depth of approximately 15-30 cm (6-12 inches) to fully expose the existing concrete or post-creting. Use a spade or shovel, being mindful of any buried utilities like pipes or cables; if unsure, check with your utility providers before digging. Ensure you have a clear working area around the post.
2. Prepare a fresh batch of postcrete or rapid-setting concrete according to the manufacturer's instructions, ensuring it's not too wet. Carefully pour this new concrete mixture into the trench around the exposed base of the post, filling the gap completely and slightly mounding it around the post for good drainage. Use a trowel or stick to tamp the concrete down and eliminate any air pockets.
3. Immediately after adding the concrete, use temporary timber braces or stout poles to firmly hold the fence post plumb (perfectly vertical) and still. Secure these braces to the post and anchor them into the ground or an adjacent stable structure to prevent any movement while the concrete cures. Leave the braces in place for at least 24-48 hours, or as recommended by your concrete product, to allow the new concrete to set completely.
