1. Before doing any checks, always ensure the washing machine is switched off at the mains socket and the plug is completely removed from the wall. This crucial safety step prevents electric shock and allows you to work safely on the appliance.
2. Check the washing machine door to ensure it is properly closed and latched. If the door isn't clicked shut or the latch mechanism is damaged, the machine's safety interlock will prevent it from spinning.
3. Locate the drain filter, usually behind a small flap at the bottom front of your washing machine, and carefully unscrew it to clean out any trapped lint, coins, or debris. Place a towel underneath beforehand to catch any residual water, as a clogged filter can prevent proper drainage and thus stop the spin cycle.
