1. First, carefully locate the sensitivity dial or control on your motion sensor light unit, which is often a small knob labelled 'SENS' or represented by a symbol like a sun. This dial is usually found on the underside or side of the sensor head itself. Ensure you can access this control safely, using a step ladder if required, but do not touch it until power is off.
2. Before making any adjustments, ensure the light's power supply is switched off at the mains to prevent electrical hazards. Once safe, gently turn the sensitivity dial towards a lower setting, typically marked with a minus sign (-) or a smaller icon, using your fingers or a small screwdriver if necessary. After adjusting, you can restore power to the light to prepare for testing.
3. Examine the direction your motion sensor is pointing to ensure it isn't inadvertently aiming at moving objects like swaying tree branches, busy roads with passing cars, or even neighbouring pets.
