2. With the power confirmed, look underneath the disposal unit for a small red or black button; this is the overload reset button. Firmly press this button once to reset the motor's thermal overload protection, then wait a minute before attempting to switch the disposal back on.
3. **IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: ALWAYS ENSURE THE POWER TO THE DISPOSAL IS COMPLETELY SWITCHED OFF AT THE MAINS BEFORE PUTTING YOUR HAND OR ANY TOOLS INTO THE UNIT.** Locate the hexagonal hole at the very bottom centre of the disposal unit and insert the correct size Allen key (usually 1/4 inch or 6.35mm), then firmly rock it back and forth to dislodge any jammed impellers until it moves freely.
