2. Next, locate your boiler's pressure gauge and verify the needle is within the recommended operating range, typically between 1 and 1.5 bar. If the pressure is too low or too high, consult your boiler's manual for instructions on how to repressurise or release pressure safely.
3. Listen for your central heating pump operating when the boiler fires up and visually inspect it for any signs of leaks or unusual noises. Also, check that its speed setting (if adjustable) matches your system's requirements, as outlined in your boiler's or pump's manual.
4. Carefully feel the pipes connected to your boiler: the 'flow' pipe (leaving the boiler) should be hot, and the 'return' pipe (entering the boiler) should be noticeably cooler, indicating heat transfer.
